Karl F. Johnson is a Research Coordinator at CIEE. He currently manages lighting, energy-efficient technology development, demonstration, market connection, strategic planning, and evaluation activities. Mr. Johnson has almost 30 years of professional experience in the energy field. He has worked in a variety of areas including energy R&D program and project management, energy-efficient technology development and implementation, demonstration and evaluation of emerging technologies, market connection and transformation programs, and organization of collaborative research programs. He has expertise, awards, and papers in different commercial, residential and industrial energy technologies. These technologies include lighting, water heating, appliances, cooling, HVAC, energy analysis tools, control, commissioning, monitoring, cogeneration, ground source heat pumps and renewable technologies. He also has developed and managed national and international programs for applying these technologies in various market segments. These include College and University, K-12 Education, Offices, Foodservice, Industrial Segments, and Healthcare. Mr. Johnson has served on the advisory committees of many national and international energy and environmental groups. He has a BS degree in Economics and Fine Art from Denison University and an MS from Stanford University in Mechanical Engineering-Product Design.
