Notice - Solicitation of
Pre-Proposal Abstracts for Enabling Technology Development Research
for Legacy Buildings
This Solicitation is CLOSED
The Enabling Technologies Development (ETD) Project is soliciting pre-proposal abstracts leading to the receipt of formal proposals in July 2008. The selection of proposals for Grant Agreement funding will be made between November 2008 and January 2009.
A pre-proposal abstract, submitted by the deadline listed below, is a prerequisite for acceptance of the formal proposal submission.
Grant agreement awards will be limited to $125,000. Proposals with projected budgets of less than $125,000 will be given additional consideration during the PTRB review.
The research concepts described in the 2-page abstract must address the research goals presented in the Enabling Technologies For Legacy Buildings Research Opportunity Notices (RON) currently posted on the ETD Project website.
In addition, abstracts will be screened for:
- Legacy Buildings relevance
- Research addresses objectives in the RON(s)
- Research is of disruptive enabling technologies with 10x performance & 1/10x cost potential
- Research teams must be collaborative and multidisciplinary
The following are dates of importance:
April 16, 2008 - Deadline for pre-proposal abstract submittal.
June 25, 2008 - Completion of screening of pre-proposal abstracts.
July 9, 2008 - Deadline for full proposal submittal.
- please include a title page and a budget page in the proposal.

August 20, 2008 - Completion of technical review by the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
September 17, 2008 - Completion of review by the Program and Technical Review Board (PTRB).
November 12, 2008 - January 14, 2009 - Notice of Energy Commission approval for funding of Grant Agreement(s).
